this poster, alongside four others, was used as promotional material for carousel dir. by eden williams. taking inspiration from 20th-century circus act posters, i used colour grading in order to give the actors a ghostly appearance and enhance the horror elements of the play.
this is a potion bottle label that was printed out and stuck around three small glass bottles to be used as props. although i knew the writing could not be read from the audience, it was important to me to essentially make it good even so lol.
this front page was used for a visual gag in the 39 steps dir. by tommy haines. i was inspired by real 1930s newspapers, in particular their elaborate fonts and inclusion of small advertisements. the actor is at the centre of the design, as his image and the headline above control the gag. however, i am keen to ensure that any written elements - such as the story itself - make sense, even when unnoticed by the audience.
this is a theatre programme brandished by a character in the 39 steps dir. by tommy haines. i was eager to incorporate splashes of colour into this groovy design, but i used colour grading in order to mute the hues and strike a balance between gaudy and antiquated.
for the latest edition of spotlight, i designed four double page spreads, one single page, the contents page and the front cover. in keeping with the theme of 'dystopia', i opted for a cold colour palette and unsettling visuals. in combination with the glowing pinks and reds of particular title cards, i found that these melancholy designs achieved the dystopian quality required of them.
